The Story Crouching Beneath: retrieving the soul of the Earth This book is a natural offspring of The Woman Who Could See In All Directions At The Same Time and is an experiential course in healing the Feminine and our Ways of Knowing. I believe that our mystery and wisdom is claimed through our recognition of our personal, experiential life work and its meaning to us. Your path is unique and so is your calling. A woman’s education is a mentorship, not a battering ram of facts and ideas that can be distanced from her experience in an intellectual, logical or rational approach. This mystery of the Feminine is to be called out into the world. It unfolds and cannot be foreseen. A woman’s journey is that unique. Her education is her lived life. Our knowledge is not separate from our experience of life. In my culture for instance, the herb that heals me is connected to the story that brought it to me. It is one and the same thing. If I am teaching about this herb it must be contained in its story. It is in my working relationship to it that I am brought into its curative powers. There are many herbal remedies set down in books that are included in my work, but every relationship is individual and what works for one person will not necessarily cure everyone. There is an essential language or perhaps tongue that relates to transformation and healing that is not rooted in logic. This is the power of the healed imagination. We are all contained within the heartbeat of the Mother. Our dislocation from the story that creates us—the story that calls us and our connections to the earth creates a huge tear in our psychic make-up as we are cut off from our storied lives.   © 2006.
